I got A Crack in Time yesterday, along with Uncharted 2 and borderlands at Best Buy, cause they got a buy 2 get one free deal going on right now. So far, Borderlands is decent, but Uncharted and this game are really, really good. If you like the series, you NEED to get ACiT, because it is pretty much Tools of Destruction, except better in every way imaginable. I'm only acouple levels in so far, but so far it is probably the funniest and funnest game of the series. Graphics are god too, blah blah bla... you know the drill. but so far I'm really loving it. Oh, and the customizable weapons are great.

Words of warning: Crack in Time apparently has a few game ending bugs in it. Keep manual saves, don't enter Challenge Mode from the Insomniac Museum, and try not to fall off Krell Canyon while the game is autosaving.
Ratchet demo went up yesterday. Maybe it's just me, but the control doesn't seem as tight as it did in TOD and QFB, unless you have to hold something to maintain lock on using the default controls. But I can't fault anything else (well, weapon variety I guess, but that's pretty expected for a demo, and it's nice to see that the Groovitron has returned as a weapon rather than a gadget)

Being a gamer who has only played Deadlocked, which was apparently not as good as the first three, which one would you recommend me to play first, Going Commando or Up Your Arsenal?

Well, there's pretty much a rising difficulty curve that spans through R&C 2 and then 3. So it'd probably be the smartest idea to play Going Commando first.
Oh, and that difficulty curve drops with about 2000 points by the time Deadlocked comes into play.

It depends. Going Commando arguably has the slightly better story and is a bit more funny, but UYA has the better gameplay. I don't think you'll miss anything in the story if you play UYA first, but there is a small bonus if you have a GC save file on your Memory Card, so GC first I guess.

...Okay, I don't know whether or not I can trust Ratchet & Clank Wiki, but if I can, there are a few character related things that disappoint me.
Okay, first of all: Where the heck did Talwyn go? She was really important character in ToD and QfB, but apparently, she's only mentioned in ACiT.
Second: Hmm... Action figures based on the Future series, eh? Well, is there any explanation why Skrunch is not in ANY games in the Future series? Of course, if you count the mentioning in ToD, then it's allright, but I would've liked to see him in person.
Third: Yay, they finally brought Nefarious back ^_^ Now, would someone explain why he's NOT the main antagonist of the game? Instead it's this lombax called Alister Azimuth. Oh, and apparently, he(Azimuth) sorta replaced Talwyn, too.
Other than that, the game looks pretty awesome. If I'll ever buy a PS3, I'm gonna get this game, too.

Son of a b****, that was satisfying! After defeating the Bonus Boss and unlocking the Insomniac Museum... you get to kill them in gameplay. KILL THEM. It's so great!
Going Commando arguably has the slightly better story and is a bit more funny
I thought it was the complete opposite myself. To me the story in R&C 2 just felt rushed and all over the place, particularly how Ratchet and Clank are teleported to a different galaxy with the press of a button (honestly, even these games have to make some sense), the thief's abrupt personality change once the mask comes off and Qwark's silly monologue near the end. I also thought R&C 3 was much funnier.

Even though you didn't list it, I think you should go with the original first. It, in my opinion, felt like it was easier than the next two, and had my favorite story compared to the other two. Besides, it's best to see where it all began right?

There is one gameplay related, rather big question I'd like to get answer in...
Since Ratchet and Clank presumably reunite about halfway through the game... Does that mean that Clank will stay in Ratchet's back after the reunion, and you can use Helipack and Thrusterpack, or does Clank still have levels on his own and Ratchet have levels on his own? Or does Clank follow Ratchet around, much like Qwark and Azimuth, perhaps?
I'd really want to know.
Ratchet uses Clank's helipack to glide as well as his hoverboots, and can use Clank's Time Bombs. You can go back and do optional Clank bonus levels for gold bolts, but after they reunite (way later than halfway...) on Planet Vapedia, they're together until the ending... do they separate or stay together? FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON "WHEN YOU PLAY IT YOURSELF" :B
I had the same problems with it myself. It felt like Insomniac kept writing themselves into a corner and then coming up with twists to get themselves out of it.

Yeah, they are STILL doing that, even in their recent games, like Clank with the Zoni, and the Resistance series as a whole, it seems Insomniac has a knack for writing themselves into a corner and then coming up with some stupid crap to pull it out and calling it a "plot twist". Seriously, they piss me off, I don't think one of their games has had a REAL ending since Deadlocked. Mind you, I haven't finished Crack in Time yet, I'm taking my time through it.

UYA Didn't have a twist...it had arguably the most satisfying ending, and I'm annoyed that Quark seems to have just forgotten it. And the Zoni weren't really a twist and nor was Drek, So...yeah, they're not always writing themselves out of corners in comparison to some franchises I know. And I'll second Venusies points on Commando. The protopet is a great enemy and really tied into the overriding theme of the series (which TOD forgot about...)
Nefarious is the main antagonist. Azimuth just goes somewhat psycho after beating Nefarious (though it was made pretty obvious that it was going to happen)
.
Just beat Crack in Time for the first time (medium). There are a few odd things about it compared to normal Ratchet titles, not all of them good (Clank levels are great now, but Ratchet's weapon variety isn't as great, and the spherical moon levels generally come from three basic archetypes, which get tired quickly. The Collector's Edition is a bit of a rip-off, the art book is 10 tiny pages of art from the game, and the Insomniac Museum is unlockable anyway. Speaking of the Insomniac Museum, it's huge now... with the majority of it being empty space, making navigation pretty difficult. I can tell it's probably meant to be based on the layout of the Insomniac office, but colour coding the individual sections wouldn't have hurt, and it seems to be more game design orientated than beta orientated. My Blaster Runs Hot just doesn't have the same appeal as Sheep Invaders [briefly funny due to concept], the Vid-Comics [gameplay was good, cutscenes were better], or the Gadgebot challenges [since you had to think to pass those]. The continuity nods were pretty nice though).

Yeah, agreed with Ratchet's weapon variety. Not counting the wrench, he has a total of 17 weapons, 14 if you don't count the Constructo ones.
Oh, and I'd like to know: Is there really a total of 8 gadgets in the game? According to Ratchet & Clank Wiki, there are
* HoverBoots * OmniSoaker * Swingshot * Grindboots * Gravity Boots * O2 Mask * Heli-Pack * Thruster-Pack
There's more than that. For selectable gadgets, you also have
Time Bombs
, for non-selectable gadgets, you also have the
Box Basher, Armor Magnetizer, and Treasure Mapper.
Though I'm not actually sure if you can switch the
Heli-Pack and Thruster Pack (but I haven't looked, so...)
, and it's worth pointing out that the
O2 mask
is used on some of the moons instead of
underwater (since the underwater bits were cut).
Because the biggest irony of all was how people went from hating the PS3 to loving it when rumors surfaced of a next-gen Crash game.

Man, why do the Japanese gamers get everything cool in their R&C games?
Makes me wish I had a Japanese version of Up Your Arsenal...
@ DrNeoTropy: Well, it's a lot easier to get by buying the Discovery Pack than unlocking it. From what I can judge,
it takes forever to take down Lord Vorselon for the last time. O_O
And what do ya mean by saying you completed the game thrice? You mean you've beaten the game once and Challenge Mode twice, or you've completed it in every difficulty setting?
Holy crap, how the hell did you manage to beat the game THRICE in just ONE week?! Either the game's shorter than Size Matters, or you're f**king hardcore...

Most of the longevity is in the spherical moons (and individually, those aren't very long either). On challenge mode, you'll probably skip those (or just do the ones you haven't done already), and on subsequent difficulty playthroughs, you'll probably just do the ones which get you enough Zoni to get the deflector shield thing. It's just one of those things, which, in my opinion, makes Crack in Time not as fun to replay as the other games (The Great Clock sections aren't that great while replaying [though I guess this is a problem with Clank sections in general, and at least you can skip the majority of the puzzles this time round. But still, they are a lot longer than your average Clank section], and some of the pre-rendered cutscenes are unskippable, for some reason). I'd rather have had a few more bigger planets, and maybe a bit more variety in the species/models of aliens/robots you meet/beat, rather than the space gameplay and the moons.
And
Lord Vorselon (final time, non-challenge mode)
is easier than
Lord Vorselon (first time, challenge mode).
I basically did what Venusy said. Just blazed thru the playthroughs and skipped the unnecessary stuff.
By the time you get to Vorselon for the 3rd time in a challenge mode playthru all your weapons will be fully upgraded. Spamming Groovitrons, keeping Mr. Zurkon out, and never letting go of the RYNO V trigger makes him easier to beat.
Never before would the phrase cool story bro be more apt.
Turns out I have quite the while to wait before I can actually get the game. Anybody willing to estimate how long it will take the figures to arrive overseas after the American release date?

Depends on how many side missions you do. If you stick to the main story only (which is probably impossible on your first playthrough), it's about 3-4 hours long. With side missions, it really depends on how many you do, but you're probably looking at around 10-20 hours. What I'd recommend doing is going through the main story, collecting more Zoni as necessary from the spherical moons, then getting everything before entering Challenge Mode via the Extras Menu (at the very least, you'll want the RYNO V).

I completely forgot about that, I was making a very rough guesstimate based on what I remember of how long it took (factoring in "unskippable" cutscenes [which it turns out may not actually be fully unskippable, just until it finishes loading).

I was more or less giving an overall warning to everyone. ACiT is pretty short if you have all the Zoni. The first playthrough, you should have about 20-22 if you only do a couple unnecessary ones, the rest are all required to break through Planetary Shields, etc.
So yeah, if you are talking Challenge Mode, where you already have the necessary Zoni, 3-5 hours, agreed.
